A Message from HIDA’s President

Natalie Haggerty, Ph.D.

August 12, 2022

First of all, on behalf of the Hawaiʻi Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (HIDA) Board of Directors, I’d like to thank you for your continuing support of HIDA.

For the past 37 years, HIDA has increased awareness of dyslexia in our community and provided support for people with dyslexia. It is also a year of change for HIDA; Margaret Higa, Executive Director since 2013, with HIDA for 23 years, will be transitioning to pursue other personal and professional opportunities in November 2022.

Therefore, we have formed a Search Committee and are initiating our formal search process for a new Executive Director. It is our hope that our stakeholders can assist us in this important effort by sending any qualified and interested candidates in our direction.

This is an exciting professional opportunity for the right candidate. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please pass along the following information about HIDA and the search to any colleagues you feel would be good candidates.

The job is posted on Indeed.com, HANO-hawaii.org, and the HIDA website (click here), and we will begin reviewing resumes in the upcoming month.

We remain committed to supporting people in Hawaiʻi with dyslexia and greatly appreciate your assistance in identifying candidates who can help us build on the strong foundation currently in place.

Mahalo nui loa,

Natalie Haggerty, Ph.D.

President, HIDA Board of Directors
